About Los Haitises national park and its location

Enjoy a great Ecological Adventure in the Dominican Republic ā€œLos Haitises national parkā€, through the Coastal Plain of the East-Northeast region. Departing from your hotel in a modern and comfortable bus, we’ll drive along the Coral Highway, crossing through Miches town and Sabana de La Mar province until you reach CaƱo Hondo. Arriving there, be wonder by the beautiful Los Haitises, which is one of the 4 most important Karst Parks in the World, with a Rich Fauna and exuberant Flora, with endemic species of the Zone.

The tour

To begin with the excursion, we take a boat through CaƱo Hondo, a stream that crosses the largest mangrove swamp in the Caribbean where in fact, you will be able to discover several species of mangroves, an abundant variety of crustaceans and birds can be seen. On this excursion we arrive at the San Lorenzo Lagoon, surrounded by the endemic vegetation forest, which is a very important reserve for the reproduction of fish, crustaceans and birds. Continuing the tour we reach the rocky part, where we visit two caverns, with petroglyphs and carvings on the walls, left by the Tainos who were living there. These caverns are inhabited by bats and other nocturnal birds. Additionally, we will visit several mogotes or atolls scattered throughout the coast that surround the Park to appreciate the diversity of native birds.Furthermore this Ecological experience, weā€™ll go to the ParaĆso CaƱo Hondo Hotel, a stunning and amazing green resort to have lunch nestled in, at the foot of the mountain, who has the privilege of irrigating its pools with pure and crystalline water from a river that is born in the heart of Los Haitises National Park, whereas we enjoy a refreshing bath. One of the highlight of the activity is coming and is the visit in a safari truck to ā€œMontaƱa Redondaā€ or ā€œCircular mountainā€, a special location in the middle of two large lagoons (Laguna LimĆ³n & Laguna Redonda), with a spectacular view, appreciating both sides: the SamanĆ”ā€™s Bay and the Peninsula, as well as, a large part of the Eastern Cordillera and the Atlantic Ocean.Ā
