Real estate in Punta Cana

The Dominican Republic is the number one Tourism destination in the Caribbean, receiving visitors from all over the world such as: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and South America. It is also a favorite country to invest, since foreigners have access to financing from local banks (Scotiabank, Banco Popular, Santa Cruz, Banreservas, López de Haro, etc). Punta Cana is the investment destination par excellence, since it receives approximately more than 3 million tourists, thus being the most popular pole and the greatest tourist influx. As a result of the expansion of tourism and the new visitors arriving each year in Punta Cana, the demand for short-term rental accommodation is growing. Currently there is a large segment of tourists who prefer to stay in fully equipped luxury condominiums, instead of a hotel or resort.

Another great advantage that favors investment in this destination is the “CONFOTUR” law, where new properties for sale are exempt from the transfer tax on real estate rights, that is, 3% of the value of the property; and, of the real estate property tax (IPI), which is equivalent to 1% of the annual tax that is applied to the total amount of real estate assets for 15 years. It should be noted that the investment climate in the Dominican Republic is safe, due to its institutional framework, economic development, democratic regime and foreign policies.
